Field Notes DAY 1 at YARI

On Monday we had the amazing opportunity to meet some of the main players in the YARI Mentor-ship program. The most exciting part was finally being able to meet the Students whom we will be honored to work with! YAY
I have heard of the Met before and recommend this option to a lot of my students transitioning to high school, but I have never seen it for myself. The campus was very nice and had a college feel to it.
At first look you could tell that the students were all very unique from one another. I was incredibly impressed with how easily the youth from the MET blended in with a group of adults and had so much to offer. The students had such eloquent answer to any questions we had; it was super impressive. The best part was being able to sit with some of the students one on one and listen to what they had to say.
When it came to talking to our mentees one on one, I was so impressed with the questions she wanted answers to and what meaning they had to her and her life.
I’m really excited to be a part of this project and can’t wait to see what these students come up with!
